large, posh dining room with
archives decorating the walls. While some things never change (each
meal begins with a complementary popover served with strawberry butter and
small cups of chicken broth), the specials change daily making each dining
experience full of new possibilities. The Zodiac is only open for lunch,
but guests who don't get the privilege of stopping by in the middle of the day
can still take advantage of the restaurant buy-outs, private dinner parties and
catering! Either way, no one should miss this timeless treat!

"The
Zodiac flawlessly covers all aspects of dining. Service and atmosphere are as
fine as the food. But it also has a mystique that lies in its role as a
destination where rituals are celebrated, and it embodies an ideal of refinement
that people long for....Red snapper salad ($13.75) was a gratifying combination
of good fresh fish, upscale greens and a poblano chile dressing that lent just
the right degree of warmth....From kitchen to front of the house, the staff
observes a high creed of excellence. Service is exemplary; some waiters have
been there for years, while others have worked at high-caliber
places."

"The
clean lines of frosted-glass partitions and linen-covered tables balance
chartreuse walls and graphic, colorful pop art to create the epitome of posh
dining....The dainty trio of seasonal fruit, mandarin orange souffle and chicken
salad is reasonably proportioned and fresh. More substantial, the focaccia
chicken panini with mozzarella, bacon and balsamic tomatoes is a hearty, piquant
meal"
