Children's Menu

Ma Maison Restaurant is a Green restaurant, and we serve only sustainable seafood.

"An appealing marriage of California freshness and French tradition, the menu at Ma Maison exactly reflects the alliance of its owners, Paris-trained Chef Lionel Le Morvan and his wife, Janet, a Central Coast native. A little more relaxed than its predecessors in decor and in serving attitude,

Ma Maison offers a few solid continental ideas created from the utmost in seasonal ingredients. Ma Maison could well become your new "maison" of expertly prepared, unpretentious dining."
Good Times, by Christina Waters

"The menu leans heavily toward French classics ... but there are nods to California. We began with ... luscious duck rillettes, and silken foie gras. Both were done just right. Sauces are Le Morvan's strong suit. An intense, winey demi glace underscored

the fork-tender lamb shank. A fresh Provencal sauce ... with a touch of aged balsamic vinegar enlivened the perfectly cooked Alaskan halibut."

"Imagine you're enjoying that long-awaited trip to France ... you spot a rustic little bistro Wake up from your daydream to some good news: That little restaurant is here, just an escargot's throw off Highway 1 in Aptos. Ma Maison offers a tasteful blend of French and California cuisine. The Ahi Tartar was the best raw tuna I've tasted outside the Hawaiian islands. Dennis relished his colorful salad. And we both crooned over

the mushroom soup. A country-style duck pate ... was excellent preparation for our Duck Filet entree. Not only was the meat cooked perfectly to order, but its blueberry/balsamic demi glace was extraordinary. When I asked Lionel to characterize his cuisine, he responded with one word: "fresh"."

Lionel Le Morvan, Chef & ProprietorGrowing up between his parent’s home in Paris and the family home on the Normandy countryside, fishing, gardening, and mushroom scavenging were simply a part of life for Lionel. While the art of cuisine was always emphasized in his family, Lionel had a special inclination towards culinary art. The first notable instance of such inclination was when Lionel’s mother and older sister went to the grocery store and returned only to find 8 year-old Lionel standing on a stool, flambéing bananas. By age 16, Lionel began to cultivate his talent with the master chef Jacques LeDivellec in LaRochelle, and later diversified his abilities by traveling to, studying and practicing culinary identities in Japan, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. He chose to spend 10 years perfecting certain culinary skills in the Caribbean.

In 1998 Janet and Lionel decided they could bring the perfect flavor of France back to California, so they returned to Janet’s hometown of Aptos. Shadowbrook restaurant promptly engaged Lionel’s culinary talents, and he served as Chef for 2 years. It was after 4 years at the Bear Valley Lodge running the Food and beverage department that Lionel and Janet felt ready to embark out on their own and opened Ma Maison Restaurant in February 2005. Since taking over the location that Chez Rene used to occupy, Ma Maison Restaurant is now offering gastronomic French delights to the community once again. With easy accessibility, adequate parking and the acceptance of reservations, there is no reason to delay in experiencing one of the newest and most innovative restaurants in the area.
