The Forge Saloon
Years ago, this room served as “The Forge in the Forest Blacksmith
Shop” for artist and master blacksmith, Francis Whitaker, who used
it to produce much of the fine hand-wrought iron pieces that you
will find on many of Carmel’s historic buildings. Mr. Whitaker’s
anvil, vise and hearth are still the centerpieces of this room.
Now, the Forge Saloon, with its unique copper walls, brick floor
and hand carved mahogany back bar, is a favorite locals’ gathering
point.
The Oak Tree Room
This room has definite French Bistro ambiance with a stone floor
mirrored walls, and a ceiling built entirely with the engraved
lids of wooden wine crates from all around the world. The Oak Tree
Room also features an entire wall of accordion style French doors
that open up and allows the room to flow out to the garden setting
of the adjacent Oak Tree Patio. Seating in this room is available
for up to 30 guests and when used in conjunction with The Oak Tree
Patio, seating is available for up to 70. The Oak Tree Room and
Patio are also the perfect setting for cocktail receptions for
parties of up to 100 guests.
The Upper Garden Patio
The Forge’s Upper Garden Patio is tucked in under a canopy of
pines and is kept comfortable year round with large patio
umbrellas to provide shade from the afternoon sun and patio
heaters to fend off any fog or cool ocean breezes. The patio
beneath your feet is made up of thousands of hand laid red bricks.
Take a seat at one of the hearty redwood tables or pull up a chair
to the fire pit at the center of the patio. Either way, you will
be surrounded by the stunning beauty and charm of our award
winning gardens that have helped to earn us the coveted award of
“Best Outdoor Dining” every year since 1992!
The Dog Pound Patio
What can we say? We love dogs! Everybody knows Carmel is a dog
friendly town and therefore is a popular destination for those
that prefer to travel with their dogs. It just breaks our hearts
to see dogs left in the car or tied up outside while their human
companions get to have all the fun. So what the heck? We decided
we would designate the Oak Tree Patio to our fellow dog lovers. We
even have a special menu for our K-9 friends. However, not
everybody loves dogs as much as we do, so for the enjoyment of all
our guests, we do reserve the right to ask misbehaved pooches to
return to the car. |
